This dress by British designer Freda Bennet is a stunning, classic A-line gown from her Spring/Summer 2024 collection.
It features a flattering square neckline with elegant wide shoulder straps, a beautifully nipped-in waist, and a full princess skirt that flows effortlessly. The skirt also includes hidden pockets, a rare and very practical detail.
The dress is made from luxurious, high-quality Mikado fabric. I chose the shiny Mikado rather than the textured version, giving the gown a refined, elegant finish. The fabric captures the light beautifully and looks absolutely amazing in photos.
Alterations & Fit
Originally purchased in size 8 ( which felt more like high street size UK 6) and professionally altered to fit approximately a UK size 6:
Shoulder lift: 1.5″ total
Bodice taken in:
Underarm: 1″ total
High waist: 2″ total
Waistline seam: 2″ total
Length shortened to suit a bride of 5’3” wearing 3-inch heels
A hidden ribbon bustle was added underneath the skirt to discreetly tie the train if needed
Further minor alterations could easily be done by a seamstress if required.
