The corn field. Size 12
I’m old enough to remember when wheat fields (commonly called corn fields) were dotted with wild flowers and bordered with poppies and cornflowers and oxeye daisies as natural pesticides… I have always thought how pretty that looked, indeed one of my greatest compliments is ‘you would look good in a corn field’ so this dress has been a favourite of mine to make. The train is made from a vintage table cloth and then the larger flowers are hand painted on, the bow at the back is from a hair clip I used to have and the flowers on the head piece are from another project I was doing, the pearl beads inside the poppy flower are actually from the bodice of the dress which was originally covered in these beads which have been saved for another dress and another design.
