Meet The Supplier: Stripey Finds

Hi Lovelies, I have a confession to make. I know some people hate it when the clocks go back and it gets dark by 4pm, but I love this time of year. I love the feeling of drawing the curtains and getting cosy indoors in the warmth. I love the colours of Autumn, vibrant golds and reds that bring life to the surroundings and cancel out the inevitable grey and rainy sky. Don’t get me wrong I love the sunshine and long evenings in the summertime, but there is something so comforting about winding down and snuggling on the sofa with Netflix and a cup of tea! The changing season means we get be creative with our window displays. Now as a team we have loads of creative ideas and themes that we would love to see reflected in our windows but we never know how to channel this creativity into an organised and beautiful look. This is why we look to the wonderful Cara Franses at Stripey Finds. Cara has recently done a brilliant job with our displays and believe me when I say the pictures don’t do nearly enough justice to the marvellous job she has done. Stripey Finds is a wedding and party design consultancy and shop. They work closely with you and learn about your themes and ideas to help you to design and dress a spectacular event be it a birthday, wedding or corporate event. They work with everything be it traditional, quirky, out of the ordinary, whatever your vision, be it big or small Stripey Finds call help. You might just be looking...

Throwback Bride – Jo Boswell

Hello You Lovely Bunch,  Hope you are all well. It’s been a whirlwind of activity here at Bridal Reloved, we’ve had so much going on. Wedding fairs, fashion shows, seminars and everything in between. Being in the wedding industry means you are always busy! Not that we are complaining – we love what we do!  This week’s post is the first of our Throwback Brides. We have chosen Jo Boswell and from the minute we met we loved her, she was such a fun bride and I really wanted to do a post about her wedding, so this seemed like the ideal opportunity. We had named Jo our Blindfold Bride as every time she came in for a fitting she would see a new dress that had come in-store and give us all heart palpitations by saying she wanted a different dress! Funnily enough the day I had scheduled in to sit down and have a gossipy chat with her was actually the day she had agreed to be a bride again for Bridal Reloved. A local wedding venue had contacted us looking for a bride for their Open Day and Jo couldn’t have said yes faster! She was looking for an excuse to wear her beautiful dress again and it was handed to her on a plate!  When I got to the venue – Bennett’s Water Gardens in Weymouth in case you were wondering, Jo was like a child who’d consumed far too many E numbers. She was clearly thrilled to be the star of the show again and the great pictures really are a testament to that. I’ve put some up for you all...

The First Dance

Hi All, Wow a sudden Autumnal heatwave, I bet all the brides who booked to have early October weddings think all their Christmases have come at once. Long may it continue – we love the sunshine here at Bridal Reloved HQ. Any excuse to drag the laptop out into the garden and soak up the final rays of sunshine for this year. I was having a chat with a friend of mine recently and the conversation turned to music, specifically songs people use for special occasions and why sometimes there is a real lack of originality in the songs that are chosen. I’ve been to many a wedding where the first dance was ‘Let’s Stay Together’, by Al Green. This got me thinking – is the pressure of having a good song too much to deal with so people go for the safer, tried and tested options in order to avoid disappointment? If you do a quick Google search for ‘first dance songs’, you’ll get the usual suspects that keep on cropping up across most of the lists. Al Green as mentioned above, as well as ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ from Aerosmith, ‘You’re My First, My Last My Everything’, from Barry White and ‘At Last’, by Etta James. Don’t get me wrong I agree that all of these songs are classics, and if you are having one of these songs then it’s obviously something that is personal to the two of you as a couple, but I’ve been doing a little aural investigating and found some amazing tracks that could elevate your first dance from lovely...
